Laura’s Floating World

The make-shift raft that

Laura built for

herself and the crying baby she found

held their cold and shaking bodies

as they drifted

along past floating remnants

on the flood plane.

There were skeletons

of buildings and signs

laid to rest in the water.

Laura remembered how

forceful the water had

been that night when the rains

wouldn’t stop.

There were bodies in

the water too.

She carefully moved

around in the calm after

the storm and prayed

that there would

be no more rain.

Again the baby began to cry

Laura hoped they would

soon find food and a perhaps

a shelter from what was

floating by.

Where was Shane  in the floating world out on the flood plane? (pages stuck together after a search was made and dried in the sun).

About charlottesrow

I am a aspiring writer who has taken my time getting to the plate. I have been a Jill-of-all trades. I had a career as a Nanny for many years and decided that I needed a change. I have a "day-job" that is currently supporting me to pursue after all these years the things I really want to do with my life. I love writing, reading, and learning new things! I will have to sort out the jumble that is my creative projects that have collected cobwebs, the time has finally come!
