The Poetry Revolution

Hello, everyone,

I have been silent for quite sometime here on WordPress, well no more! I am back to express my thoughts and ideas through poetry.  I am here to connect with my inner self and the kindred spirits that are out there.  I look forward to getting back on the journey with you all! Sometimes life takes you down other paths that you have to follow for awhile, but those paths always lead back to the main one.  Open hearts and open minds make for a world that is more amazing and brilliant that we could ever imagine.  Let’s  in the words of Simone De Pury, “Be bold! Be Brave! Be Amazing!” . Let’s soar to the heights of greatness where we belong. I look forward to posting some of my older posts and sharing some new inspiration with you.  Sending you blessings of inspiration until my next post.

A room for daydreaming

The Muse is Waiting in the Corner…

Now that I am getting back on track there will be work coming to this page very soon! It’s like I have been away from my “self” for too long, and I want back inside.  I was writing a series of poems and I just put it aside a few months or so ago.  Now I am ready to get back into this part of my life, that needs to see the light again, a neglected plant cannot grow, a neglected child will stare you down from the corner and they will be belligerent with you.  My muse was feeling restless and waiting patiently at the same time, if you can understand that then we are kindred spirits.

Time to live with my muse in harmony once again and to do what I was inspired to do by so many others before me.  Bless you all and I look forward to being back on this blog journey with you all and putting one verse on my sleeve at a time for you to see what emotions come forth from my soul.  My heart is full of gratitude as I open my soul once again.

The New Year…

Happy New Year Everyone! I have not forgotten my yearning to share my poetic thoughts, I have just been busy with all those other things and need to get back into the listening well. Listening to my inner self and writing down all of my thoughts on whatever it is that has my attention.  Sorry to be absent for so long, but I got lost with all the chaos! Perhaps it is time to channel it back and take those words and make a symphony or two, not to have that fear take over. I am inspired by all the others who have gone before me!

The Sound That Is Me…

               The Broken Sounds Of Night

I am the wind in the trees

I am the moonlit path that you walk upon

I am the beating of your heart

I am the rhythm of your soul

I am the screeching owl

in your dreams.

Your are the man

who entered softly

where I entered

 loud

with longing.

 A new feeling

 begins

after the breaking

of the heart.

Like a ghost on the stairs

I quietly enter

into your soul.

You enter my dreams

in a

storm of emotions

Where will this set down, where

will this end?

Weak in the knees and tender

in the heart we

are brought together.

Safe haven in this world

of many souls.

The sounds of love that’s me…

Touching down into the

earth I slip.

Poetic Yearnings

Cover of "Poemcrazy: Creating a Life with...

Cover of Poemcrazy: Creating a Life with Words

Poems arrive.  They hide in feelings and images, in weeds and delivery vans, daring us to notice and give them form with our words.”

Susan Goldsmith Wooldridge- poemcrazy– freeing your life with words c.1996

Even as a small child I had a yearning to express myself and as soon as I was able to hold a pencil I began to form ideas that would tell the world about who I was inside.  To share the secret self-the soul is what  I thought poets did.  I often wondered  how words on a page could shed light on the soul and the mystery of it was so powerful. It seemed to be a gift that only a chosen few were blessed with who had something important and influential to say to the rest of the world.  Who was I to believe that I could step into such a place and write words with meaning and gravity?

I read a great deal of poetry, wrote what I thought might  pass for verse and kept it hidden in drawers for years.  I kept telling myself that without a University Degree  ( I do have courses of study under my belt, just not the  end result) it was not for me, yet something inside kept bringing me back to the pen and paper.  Words, rhythm and plenty of ideas came through my heart/soul and poured into my mind.  I began writing this poetry blog in order to share my thoughts, perceptions, emotions and ideas. I also began to participate in on-line poetry groups such as Poetry Super Highway and stepping out of my comfort zone to begin sharing my work with others.  With the influence of people like Susan G. Wooldridge I began to understand how we can all express and free ourselves through words.  I also know that it’s never too late for that  Degree’ if I so choose

I have just begun reading poemcrazy and I am already experiencing a change.    Words come flying at me wherever I go and it seems like magic.  What a great idea to buy a notebook and write words that you love in the pages!  All I can say is that the longing to be a poet, the poetic yearning, the thirst is being quenched and it is because a door was opened in my soul by someone who was bold enough to share their vision.  I say thank-you to all of the poets and writers who have gone before me and given the gifts of their hearts, souls, minds and passions! I continue to be awakened and inspired. May all those who read this experience an inspired awakening too.

Until next time when I share another of my Page 8 inspired poems with you : These are a few  words that I  came across that hold my imagination: tepid, search, truth, angle, believe, after, mirror, rapid, settle, corner, evaporate, pool, jar, and project (both as a noun and a verb).  These are all in my notebook  and there will be more and more as I open my eyes to the world each and everyday.  Thank-you Susan!

Poetic Passion…

I have such a passion for poetry that I am going to be sharing  some of my poetic inspirations with you as well as my own writings.  Look for all these new things coming soon to VERSES ON MY SLEEVE ! I am blessed to be friends with some amazing poets through my connections on  Social Media and they are continuing to inspire me as both a poet and a human-being.  I am in a place that  has blessed me with ideas and I am ready to move onto a new phase of exploration.  Reading poetry is an integral part of writing it, and learning what works for you.  It is such an interesting way to express yourself and to talk about what is going on in the world.  Your perspective can be changed through reading and sharing ideas.  I look forward in the coming weeks to share my passion for reading and writing poetry with you all!  Just remember : Take time to be inspired and notice the details of the moment!

Another Page 8 Poem: Inspired by Portrait In Sepia by Isabel Allende

Emotional Arithmetic

Holding the rosary

in her delicate yet

bleeding hands

the humble girl

peers  with

wide-eyed

innocence

 into the cameras.

Her

father

with his good

intentions

went on a

mission

for his home

and

family.

Now

she asks that

you put aside

your weapons

and your

ignorance.

There is a heart

waiting that is

filled with love

and longing

for the safe

return of  her

father.

She is writing

letters to the west

asking for

the splendor and

peace

of her country

to once again

be restored.
